Why would Christians still commit crime?
|
We have been baptized. The crime inside us has been removed. We have
been reborn into new life. Lord Jesus who died on the cross became ransom
for our crime. Why would we still commit crime?
For example, a person who addicted to gambling owed a debt of one million
dollars. Creditors forced him to pay the debt, but he didn't have any money.
They wanted to sell his house and beat him to death.
At this time, there was a friend coming ,who was willing to pay for all the debt.
After getting paid, creditors removed the debt from him.
He said to his friend, "Thank you for help, I will definitely renew my life. No
more gambling for me. "
After a while, he still went to gambling.
Why would this happen?
Because he did not have any changes inside . He knew gambling would
destroy his life again. He knew he owed his friend a big favor. These would
not change his inherent gambling character.
Why would Christians commit crime? The reason is simple. After we were
baptized as Christians, our inherent character had never been changed. Our
life style is still same as in previous years. The only difference is that we
have belief in Jesus Christ. In real life,
I am the same as before and continues to do what I like to do. Even worse,
we think we have be saved and reborn , but we are still doing what we
should not do and continue to commit crime.
Non-Christians have crime. Christians have crime. What is the real meaning
to be baptized ? What is the difference for crimes which committed by non-
Christians and Christians? Is that true that Christians who commit crimes can
be saved and non-Christians who commit same crimes can not be saved?
As long as having crimes in this world, all of us ( including Christians) will do
evil things. We are living a contradicted body – good and evil mixture. Every
day, we have fights in our hearts –being good or being evil until our physical
death.
Therefore, the Bible is not used for the eradication of crimes. Instead, it
teaches us to win over our internal sins.
How can we win over our sins?
(Romans 8:13) For if you go in the way of the flesh, death will come on you;
but if by the Spirit you put to death the works of the body, you will have life.
If you choose to go along with the flesh, the ending result must be dead.
Many people (including Christians) live in the flesh every day.
What is the flesh? It is the pursuit of material, money, debauchery, and so on
...What is the meaning if a person’s life come to the end?
Instead, you choose to go along with the Holy Spirit, you will be certainly
alive. God gives the Holy Spirit each Christian. Through the Holy Spirit, God
has given us the ability which can win over our sins.
How can we manage this ability given by God to win over sins?
Should we constantly prayer hour by hour? Is that true that we make
mistake and than prayer for God’s forgiveness and again, again and again?
Listen to what God said. In Exodus, near the Red Sea, the pharaoh's army
was going to catch up with the Israelis. The Israelis were desperate. Moses
prayed to God. r then? God said to Moses : " And the Lord said to Moses,
Why are you crying out to me? give the children of Israel the order to go
forward.”(Exodus 14:15)
God has given us the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has the ability inside us .
Now the question is whether we are going to use the power of The Holy
Spirit. It depends on whether we are willing to follow the leadership of the
Holy Spirit, whether we have confidence in moving forward.
We should not always pray God for mercy : "Oh! I do not know how do,
please help me, I do not have the ability. " The truth is that God has given
you the ability. You just need go forward with confidence.
Many Christians wander in the wilderness to deal with their daily issues .
The problem is that they are not going forward. As long as being willing
going forward ,and willing to following the Holy Spirit, their life will have the
ability. They will be able to win over their sins, because the grace from God
is sufficient.
The key to the whole problem depends on our own choice.
